The Prime Minister has selected Alan Johnson as the new Home Secretary, after Jacqui Smith stepped down from the role.
Mr Johnson has been a member of Parliament representing Hull West and Hessle since 1997.
He comes to the Home Office after serving as Secretary of State for Health.
He has held several ministerial posts in recent years, and previously worked as a trade union leader.
